Unique New GelTees Golf Tees Are Good for the Planet and Good for Golf
Sales of these biodegradable golf tees will help support programs that introduce the game of golf to the next generation of players.
POMPANO BEACH, FL—GelTees is excited to announce the availability of the world’s first truly biodegradable golf tees. Made from the same pharmaceutical-grade gelatin that is used to make pill capsules, GelTees biodegrade within days of being left in the elements.
“When I realized that more than 70,000 trees are cut down each year to meet the U.S. demand for golf tees,” states GelTees founder Jonathan Gilinski, “I became determined to create a more eco-friendly option. After all, deforestation is a significant source of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.”
GelTees is a premium golf tee that performs like a traditional wooden tee but is much better for the environment. With more than 2.8 billion wooden tees made annually in the U.S. alone, GelTees have the potential of keeping more than 1,600 tons of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere each year.
However, lowering golf’s environmental impact is only half of the GelTees mission. Just as important is the company’s commitment to help fund charitable organizations that support the game and improve lives.
A portion of every GelTees sale will go to The First Tee, an international organization that impacts the lives of young people through the game of golf. The First Tee is both a sports program and a youth development program for kids and teens. In the process of introducing participants to the joys of golf, the organization’s programs build character, promote healthy choices, improve confidence and instill life-enhancing values such as integrity, respect and perseverance.
“The age of the average American golfer has been trending upwards for years,” notes Title Tiger Summers. “Those of us who care about golf understand the importance of introducing the next generation to the game. The First Tee does this, while having a positive impact on the youth they serve. We’re thrilled to be able to support their efforts.”
